Terms of Use

These terms explain how Gakumi works between you and us. We have tried to keep them short and plain. Please read them before you use the app.

Last updated: 14 October 2026

Our agreement

Gakumi is a math practice app for children that a parent or guardian sets up and manages. It is provided by Guidenco Inc, doing business as Onvo AI (“Onvo,” “we,” or “us”). By creating a parent account or using Gakumi, you agree to these terms and to our privacy notice. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

You also use Gakumi under Apple’s own terms for apps and purchases from the App Store. If these terms and Apple’s standard terms for the app disagree about something Apple covers, Apple’s terms decide that point.

Parents and guardians

Gakumi is for children to use with a parent or guardian in charge. Only a parent or legal guardian, aged 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live), may create the account, agree to these terms, choose a plan and set up Screen Time.

If you add a child, you are responsible for that child’s use of Gakumi, for the profile details you enter, and for keeping your parent passcode and your device passcode private. Children should not create accounts or change settings on their own. Please contact us if you think a child has used Gakumi without a parent or guardian’s involvement.

Your account

Give us accurate information and keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has got into it, tell us at once. Please do not share it with anyone outside your family.

Free trial and subscriptions

Every family starts with a 7-day free trial. Nothing is charged during the trial; afterwards you choose a plan in the app. The trial begins once family setup is finished, and during it your family can use the features of both plans. To keep using the parts of Gakumi that need a plan after the trial, a parent chooses Explorer or Adventure in the app and confirms it with Apple. Your child’s stars and progress stay saved if a trial or plan ends.

Paid plans are subscriptions that are bought, billed and renewed by Apple through your Apple account, not by us. Before you confirm, the app and Apple’s purchase sheet show the price, the billing period and what is included.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple account when you confirm the purchase, and again at each renewal.
  • A subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you turn off auto-renewal in your Apple account settings at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Apple account’s subscription settings (on an iPhone or iPad: Settings, your name, Subscriptions). Deleting the app or your Gakumi account does not cancel it.
  • Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep the plan until the end of the period you already paid for.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies. You can ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases ourselves.

Prices and plans can change. A change to the price of a plan you already have only takes effect as Apple allows, and Apple will tell you and may ask for your consent.

Coins, play time and rewards

Coins, stars, medals and play time are features inside Gakumi. They are not money, they have no cash value, and they cannot be sold, transferred, or exchanged for money. Play time earned in Gakumi is spent on the apps a parent has chosen, inside the play hours the parent has set.

We may adjust how coins and play time are earned or spent, and we may correct balances if something went wrong. Unspent coins have no value outside the app and are lost if the account is deleted.

Where the app offers rewards from other companies, such as gift cards, they are optional extras. Which rewards, brands and countries are available can change or stop at any time, and we do not promise that any particular reward will be available. Those rewards are provided by the other company and are subject to its own terms.

Screen Time

The play controls use Apple’s Screen Time and need a parent to approve Apple’s permission on the child’s device. They depend on Apple’s software, and no lock is perfect: a child who knows the device passcode may be able to change Screen Time in the device settings. Keeping your passcodes private, and checking your child’s device settings yourself, remains your responsibility.

Acceptable use

Please use Gakumi only as it is meant to be used. You agree not to:

  • break the law, or use Gakumi to harm, harass or deceive anyone;
  • try to get around the parent passcode, the play hours or any limit in the app, or help a child do so against a parent’s wishes;
  • copy, reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the app or our servers, or try to reach accounts or data that are not yours;
  • use bots or scripts to earn coins or play time, or abuse bugs to gain them;
  • put someone else’s personal information or any unlawful content into the app; or
  • resell or commercially use the app or its content.

What belongs to whom

Gakumi, including its worksheets, questions, artwork, characters, name and software, belongs to Onvo or its licensors and is protected by law. We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on your Apple devices for your family’s own non-commercial use, while you follow these terms. The family information you enter stays yours; you allow us to use it only to run Gakumi as described in the privacy notice.

Ending your use

You can stop using Gakumi at any time and can delete your account from the app (Settings, Family & privacy, Delete parent account). Remember to cancel any subscription with Apple first.

We may suspend or close an account, with notice where we reasonably can, if these terms are broken, if continuing would put the service, other families or us at risk, or if the law requires it. We may also change or stop parts of Gakumi. If we end a paid plan early for a reason that is not your fault, we will work with Apple to put things right. Sections that by their nature should continue after the end of your use, such as those on ownership, liability and governing law, will continue.

Warranties and liability

Gakumi is a practice tool. We work to keep it accurate and available, but it is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that it will be error-free or always online, that the Screen Time controls will work on every device or in every situation, or that using it will lead to any particular result for your child.

To the extent the law allows, Onvo is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, lost data or lost play time. Our total liability for any claim connected with Gakumi is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us for Gakumi in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud, and some places do not allow the limits above, so they may not apply to you. You may also have consumer rights under the law where you live that these terms do not take away.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes about them go to the state and federal courts located in Delaware, except where the law of the place you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts, or where mandatory consumer protections apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when Gakumi changes. We will change the date at the top, and for changes that matter we will tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using Gakumi after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, you can stop using Gakumi and delete your account.
