Gakumi · Family learning app
Privacy notice
This notice explains what information Gakumi keeps on a family’s device, what is sent to Gakumi’s account service, and how a parent can make a privacy request.
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Who this notice covers
Gakumi is a family learning and play-time app. Guidenco Inc, doing business as Onvo AI (“Guidenco,” “Onvo,” “we,” or “us”), operates Gakumi’s account and reward-shop services and is responsible for the information described here.
A parent or guardian creates and manages the parent account and may enter profile details for a child. The child does not need a separate email account to use the learning activities.
Information kept on your device
Gakumi keeps working data on the device so the app can be used there, including unfinished worksheet answers and rough work. The app also keeps device-specific data such as Screen Time authorization and the selected apps used for restrictions. Other information is synchronized with the account service when the device is connected; see the next section.
- Unfinished worksheet answers and rough work.
- Screen Time authorization and selected app state for use on that device.
- Working copies of family information needed to use the app while offline.
PINs are not stored as readable digits. Parent PIN protection data and sign-in session credentials are held in secure storage on the device. Optional child PIN checks use a server-side verifier rather than the readable PIN.
Information sent to Gakumi’s servers
When a parent creates or uses an account, Gakumi’s hosted account service processes account details such as the parent’s name and email address, authentication and session records, and information needed to manage sign-in. Session records include a token and expiry time and may include an IP address and device or browser information. A password is not stored as readable text. Depending on the sign-in method, Apple or Google provides account information used to authenticate the parent. For email sign-in links and password-reset requests, the parent email address and message are processed through Resend.
Gakumi also synchronizes child profile details, selected learning and progress summaries, family settings, chores, and reward/shop activity with the parent account. Progress summaries can include daily earned coin and minute counters, play-window usage, replay counts, medals, chest and item state, skill stars, worksheet activity summaries, and the play-time bank. The reward service stores coin events and related reward records so families can use these features across supported devices. It does not receive the selected Screen Time app names or selection tokens.
Unfinished worksheet answers and rough work remain on the device in the current app. The account service receives selected progress summaries, which may include stars, medals, worksheet activity summaries, and the play-time bank. The device remains usable offline; selected changes synchronize when it reconnects.
Apple Screen Time choices
On supported Apple devices, a parent can choose apps, categories, or web domains using Apple’s Family Controls picker. Apple’s system stores the opaque selection on the device for Screen Time enforcement. Gakumi’s server does not receive the selected app names or Apple’s selection tokens. Selection state is managed on the device for Screen Time to work there.
Apple’s own handling of information through iOS and Screen Time is governed by Apple’s privacy terms. The picker may not be available in every build or on every platform.
How information is used and shared
We use information to:
- Run learning activities and save or restore selected progress through the parent account.
- Authenticate a parent, manage sessions, and send password-reset messages.
- Synchronize family settings, chores, progress, and reward records across supported devices.
- Maintain the service, investigate errors or abuse, and respond to support or privacy requests.
The service uses providers for account hosting and operation, email delivery, and sign-in or purchase processing when those features are used. Optional push notifications may use Expo’s push service when enabled. These providers process information to provide their services. Apple, Google, and email providers also have their own privacy practices. Email-link and password-reset messages are sent through Resend. Apple processes App Store purchases; Gakumi receives transaction information needed to check subscription access. Review Apple, Google, Resend, and Expo privacy information for their handling of data.
Children and parent control
Gakumi is designed for children to use with a parent or guardian managing the family account and settings. A parent supplies any child profile information and controls the device’s Screen Time choices. Please contact us if you believe a child’s information was provided without a parent or guardian’s involvement.
Parents can review and change information in Gakumi and can reset learning and settings data from the parent settings. Contact us to make a request about information held by the hosted account or reward service.
Storage and retention
Local app data stays on the device until a parent erases it or the device’s app data is otherwise removed. Account and reward-shop records are kept on the hosted service while needed to operate the account and reward features, respond to requests, protect the service, or meet legal obligations. We have not set a fixed deletion timeline in this notice; parents may request deletion using the contact method below.
Your choices and deletion requests
A parent can edit a child profile, change Screen Time selections and family settings, or use “Erase all data” in parent settings to clear local family data on this device. A local reset does not by itself delete the hosted parent account or its synchronized records. Data held locally on another device must be cleared there separately.
To delete the hosted parent account and its associated family data, open Settings → Family & privacy → Delete parent account in Gakumi and confirm the request. A password is requested for accounts that use a password; passwordless accounts must have a fresh authenticated session. After the server confirms deletion, Gakumi clears local family data on the device where deletion is requested. Any data held locally on another device must be erased there separately. If you use an older app version without this option, or have trouble completing deletion, email [email protected] with “Gakumi privacy request” in the subject and the parent account email address. Do not email a password, PIN, reset code, or child’s lesson answers. If Apple revocation cannot be completed during deletion, Gakumi may keep the encrypted Apple token for retry attempts for up to 30 days. Account deletion still completes; the app may also ask you to remove Gakumi from Sign in with Apple in your Apple ID settings. We may need to verify that you control the parent account before acting on a request. We will explain if some information must be kept for a legal or security reason.
You may also ask for a copy of account information or request a correction. Rights and available choices depend on where you live; we will respond under applicable law.
